2nd Annual Student Scholarships
The ICH Foundation is thrilled to announce our second year providing scholarships. We awarded over $4,000 in high school scholarships to students at the Irene C. Hernandez Middle School!
A key focus of ICH's mission is to provide financial support to economically disadvantaged students, ensuring they can pursue their high school education without the burden of registration fees.
Our Scholarship Program
On June 2, 2025, and through generous donations and unwavering support, we awarded eight eighth-grade students with $500 high school scholarships to be used over their four years! These scholarships cover book fees, technological fees, uniform fees, and supplies for their entire high school career. This comprehensive support allows students and their families to focus on education and personal growth rather than financial strain.
The selected students have shown remarkable potential and determination, and we are proud to support them on their educational journey. Contributions from our generous donors have directly impacted these eight students, giving them the tools they need to succeed in high school and beyond.
Making a Difference, Inspired by Irene’s Legacy
From 2024-25, 71.6% of students enrolled in Chicago Public Schools were economically disadvantaged, and an astounding 94.8% of students at ICH Middle School came from economically disadvataged families. Recognizing the pressing need for support, the ICH Foundation is committed to alleviating the financial barriers that hinder educational success.
Irene C. Hernandez believed in providing a voice for the voiceless and advocating for those in need. With our fundraising efforts, we honor her legacy by promoting educational access and success. Together, we can foster positive change in our community and ensure that every student has the opportunity to thrive.
